I’m Aaron Edwards, a writer, academic, and security analyst with a passion for uncovering hard truths in complex times.

Born in Belfast and now based in the South East of England, I spend my time shaping the next generation of military leaders at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where I teach Army officers about international relations, strategy, and global security.

Beyond the Sandhurst classroom, I hold several external academic positions - as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Leicester and both as a Graduate Supervisor in Modern War Studies and as a Board Associate at the Centre for Research on Covert Human Intelligence Sources at the University of Buckingham.

My work sits at the intersection of contemporary history, policy and field research, informed by years of experience navigating the murky terrain of conflict, intelligence, and power.

I write about the world’s toughest security challenges, from terrorism and insurgency to extremism and the resurgence of great power rivalry.

But I don’t just analyse these issues from afar.

My freelance investigations have taken me deep into the archives, far onto the streets, and at times into the heart of the grey zone of modern conflict — whether it’s digging into controversial killings during the Northern Ireland Troubles, examining radical protest movements in the UK, or exploring the risks facing researchers in volatile environments.
